LIBRARY LAUNCHES NEW ADSL SERVICE "The free Internet access and information services offered by libraries support communities and individuals to attain freedom, prosperity and development" "Libraries and information services are essential gateways for access to Internet content. For some they offer convenience and assistance, whilst, to others, they are the only available access points. They are a means to overcome the barriers created by differences in resources, technology and training.” Manifesto of the IFLA Internet The Council has improved the ADSL facilities in the Library, and it is now far easier and faster to use the Internet as ADSL speeds reach 8 megs. There are 11 computers on the ground floor of the library and 2 more on the first floor, all with Internet access. The Library also has a Wi-Fi service to access the Internet from personal computers. Users should contact the library staff who will provide the access key. The Library offers its users free Internet access and office services (software includes: word processors, spreadsheets, database systems ...). You can browse and find information via the Web, use the software work and save data on personal external storage devices. Also you can access and check email. Terms of Use:
- To use the Internet you need to have a library card. The card is issued so that library staff may log items out and recover them.
- The hardware and software pre-installed on the computers must be used as they are properly configured. You cannot add, delete or change anything in the configuration.
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- The library is not liable for the information accessed by users.
- The library staff reserve the right to terminate the Internet connection if appropriate. Improper use of this service may result in the suspension of the same indefinitely.
